Can you believe it’s already February? January came and went so fast. So, here’s where the rubber meets the road, how are your New Year’s resolutions going? If your answer is, “Not well.” You’re in good company. According to US News & World Report, 80% of people have given up on their resolutions by the second week of February. When it comes to resolutions, sometimes we bite off more than we can chew, but often we just need a bit of a boost to help us break through the barriers holding us back. That’s where cannabis comes in.
Contrary to the couch-potato stereotype, studies show cannabis may be a good way to help your body shed fat and help keep you in fighting shape for your new exercise regimen. Here are a few ways cannabis may help you stick to your goals.
Treat Yourself
If you’re missing your evening glass of wine or nibble of chocolate, rolling a joint or indulging in a small edible is a great way to keep a handle on your cravings and to enjoy the relaxation of a drink without the calories. In an interesting twist, you have to worry more about the munchies if you’re a guy. Researchers from Washington State University have revealed that men are more susceptible to the munchie phenomenon than women. But, the good news for both guys and gals is that according to the American Journal of Medicine, people who use cannabis have lower insulin resistance levels than non-cannabis users, which means that their bodies may process sugar better and that regular cannabis users have smaller waistlines than non-users. If that’s not a reason to take another hit, we don’t know what is.
Get Back into the Swing of Things
Unfortunately, when many of us try to get into shape, we dive headfirst into demanding fitness routines and try to muscle our way into “beast mode” when we aren’t quite up to its demands yet. Fortunately, cannabis may help here too. Whether it’s a quick hit from an uplifting strain at the beginning of a workout to help get you going or a topical at the end of the day to ease aching muscles, cannabis is a great way to help you get moving again. Just remember to be gentle on your body and to start any new workout program slowly and with the consent of your doctor.
Get Better Sleep
Exercising more and eating better isn’t going to do a whole ton for you if you’re not sleeping well. Sleep is the glue that holds our body together. It’s mostly when we’re sleeping that our body repairs itself and helps us get a new start on the day. If you’re having trouble sleeping, you’re at a higher risk for all sorts of issues such as heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. Again, cannabis may be able to help. This marvelous plant can help you get the sleep you need with sedative strains such as Girl Scout Cookies, Blackberry Kush, and Harlequin.
